Our Story

I Am Edge was born from a simple yet powerful observation: families experiencing homelessness needed more than just shelter—they needed opportunities to maintain and strengthen their bonds during life's most challenging moments.

Founded in 2018 by a dedicated group of social workers, community advocates, and families who had experienced homelessness themselves, our organization emerged from the understanding that strong family connections are essential for resilience, healing, and hope.

What began as a small pilot program serving 10 families has grown into a comprehensive organization that now serves over 500 families annually across all five boroughs of New York City. Our growth reflects not just our commitment, but the profound need for programs that honor the strength and potential within every family.

Meet Our Team

Sarah Martinez

Executive Director

With over 15 years in social work and family services, Sarah leads our mission with passion and expertise. She holds an MSW from Columbia University and has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable families.

Michael Johnson

Program Director

Michael oversees all our family programs and activities. His background in recreation therapy and child development ensures our activities are both fun and developmentally appropriate.

Lisa Chen

Community Outreach Coordinator

Lisa builds partnerships with shelters, community organizations, and volunteers. Her multilingual skills and cultural competency help us serve families from diverse backgrounds.

James Williams

Development Manager

James ensures we have the resources needed to serve families through fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations. His business background helps us operate efficiently and transparently.
